A compact camera that delivers DSLR performance and this camera just about gets there. Bad stuff first – battery life is not good (but seems to be getting better), the lens cap is annoying, and it is expensive.
However, it does deliver on picture quality, especially in low light; you will like the touch screen, and it is much smaller and lighter than a DLSR, which also means it’s a lot more discreet.
Excellent quality photos. Use aperture priority mode to control the depth of field when landscape shooting. Alternatively, if using auto, use spot focus instead of a range..
You can become slightly concerned that the zoom may be a bit short – but photos are such excellent quality you can zoom in and crop and still have a good quality photo.
Getting wireless communication going between the G1X and my IMac took a bit of time.
Good quality and feel. It supplements my DSLR Canon kit. For when you do not want to lug the weight. Have tried other options over the years, and this impresses me most. I used it for photography, not video, although it has the ability. I have been using it over the last couple of months and have been pleased with the results.
