The camera is fabulous. Low light performance is unbelievable. At night in dim street lights, it can take bright pictures. With a bit of aperture and shutter speed adjustment, the brightness can regularly make so that the photos come off looking exactly like what the street looks to the human eye—great work by the engineers. One issue is that low-cost Z mount lenses are unavailable from third parties. But I believe those are in preparation, and till then, it is possible to use an adapter.
The real problem is the atrocious customer service on an expensive device. My kit came with the wrong user manual. So I asked Nikon for a copy of the manual (after registering the device with proof). They outright refused. A printed manual costs nothing compared to the £1.5K price of the device. If this is their attitude for a manual that costs them pennies, I shudder to think what will happen with an expensive issue.
So, overall, even with the great camera, I regret not going with the investment in canon. Yet another tech company and good tech development are probably going to get ruined by the out-of-touch “business” people making greedy business policies.
Autofocus struggles do not work most of the time; if it does focus, it loses it again; this is no good to take pictures indoors. It displays too dark, the included lens is so cheap and plastic it is also of no use; the FTZ mount does the job with the F lenses but makes the autofocus struggle even more.
Watch out for sellers selling Grey Imports; Amazon is riddled with them with the Nikon D7500 and the Z Series; if there is no UK Nikon Warranty and a “2-year seller warranty,”. It is because it is an import and not sold for the UK market; you don’t want a seller not fulfilling a warranty for the price of these. If you have problems and possible tax issues if they have dodged customs, you don’t want to knock on the door with a customs bill or take the camera back with no refund. Look at the seller lists and do some searching on the seller’s name; you’ll find the cheaper ones are grey imports. And the more expensive ones are the UK ones with a Nikon warranty; however, they all use the duplicate listing, so you have a mix of substances and genuine UK ones together; buyer beware.
