Product description
The Sony HX90 can shoot and share impressive sceneries, even from afar. With its 30x optical zoom, 18.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, and a Full HD 1080p video resolution, you’ll be able to capture incredible details of all that surrounds you.
Detailed results with location tagging
Thanks to its Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens with a five-axis image stabilization system; the X90 produces high contrast and sharp images. This lens is capable of 30x optical zoom and 60x with Sony’s Clear Image Zoom technology, so you’ll be able to capture faraway subjects in incredible detail.
Wi-Fi & NFC
There’s only one thing better than taking a great photo, and that’s sharing it. With wifi and NFC built-in, you can share your best shots in a second. And with the Smartphone remote app, you’ll always be in control thanks to remote shooting.
Tilting LCD & OLED viewfinder
The 3-inch LCD can title by up to 180 degrees, which is ideal for selfie shots. This versatile camera even has a pop-up OLED viewfinder, which features real-time data for planning and previewing shots.
Full HD video
Capture movies in Full HD 1080p for a high-quality video that can play back on your high-definition TV. Recording frames in XAVC S and MP4, the format is ideal for sharing because it is extra-smooth and compressed.
Reviews of Sony DSCHX90 Digital Camera
The only minus points at all are, as previously mentioned, Sony has dispensed with the in-camera cropping tool, which was the one thing I used most. However, it appears most brands have done the same in favour of cropping on the phone or tablet once transferred.
The second possible minus will depend on preference. Apart from the age of my old HX20V, another reason for the upgrade was a direct connection to saving cables and laptops to download photos. Previous other brand purchases did this by Bluetooth; Sony does it over Wi-Fi. The downside to the Wi-Fi method is that you cannot transfer if you are out without Wi-Fi. The Bluetooth method could use at any time; however, firstly, I never had the time or wanted to waste it transferring while out. Secondly and most importantly, the Bluetooth function drained the camera battery faster than a bucket with a hole in it!
Battery life very good, lasted two days of constant use while away before needing to be charged. Flash on this is also very good, nowhere near as bad as the average ‘rabbit in headlights’ effect usually produced by flash shots and did not make the shots look cold as some flashes do.
