Product description

FUJIFILM X100V features a new 23mmF2.0 lens to ensure every detail from its X-Trans TM CMOS 4 Sensor is set correctly. Enhanced for better resolution, lower distortion, this lens is a significant step up from the ones used in past X100 Series cameras but still maintains the same overall size and compatibility with legacy WCL/TCL conversion lens while retaining its internal 4- Stop ND filter. At the heart of FUJIFILM X100V are the state-of-the-art X-Trans TM CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 combination.

I used to have Fuji’s first iteration of this camera, X100, which I eventually sold off to fund other newer cameras at the time. I think X100 started the revolution where camera companies started coming out with newer innovative models, at least that’s what I think. Over the years, I have used many other cameras, including Sony A7ii, RX1R, Leica M10. I kept an eye on the iterations of X100. I did not like any of them, sometimes due to the sensor’s waxy tones and the rest of the time due to low autofocus speed. Fast forward to 2020, and Fuji came out with this camera. The picture quality is superb, same as XT3 if you have used it. The autofocus speed much improved, though, in lower light, it hurts a bit.

New settings such as clarity are beneficial. These samples are jpegs straight from the camera, with built flash and Astia film simulation for two pictures and the new Classic Negative for the third one. Astia has always been my favourite, and I think it shines in most situations. Classic neg looks excellent too, but I feel it is away from reality. The TTL flash is fantastic, and because of the leaf shutter, you can use it even in bright sunlight. I dial the flash strength back a bit so the faces not washed out. The results you can see from the pictures are fantastic. The camera could do with a better grip.

The screen finally tilts, and it is suitable for taking pictures from different angles. I wish you could swivel, but you cannot, unfortunately. I might add more photos later and type in some more details as I learn more. You could always use electronic zoom with this camera to further reach though it might reduce the resolution.
