The lens is compact, but don’t let the size fool you. It may be a G lens, but it performs by a GM lens and punches well above its weight. It’s unbelievably sharp, the color rendition is excellent, flaring is well controlled, and it produces some good sunbursts. Chromatic aberrations are nonexistent in all my testing, and it renders backlit subjects beautifully.

I’m primarily using it for landscape and Astro, and it doesn’t disappoint in either scene. If you don’t mind the fixed aperture, the lens is an Astrophotographer’s dream.

I’ve been using it for two months, and this prime is usually fixed to my camera.

I’ve found nothing so far that I dislike about the lens; it’s near optically perfect.

I was after a wider angle lens and considering the GM 24mm as it’s highly recommended by 99% of the photographers, but the lens price was holding me back from clicking on that ‘buy now button.

When I came across this G 20mm f1.8 and noticed its price, I got a bit confused about the similarities with the GM but costing much less. I read many videos, and some of the reviewers were even recommending this lens over the expensive sibling GM regarding sharpness and cost. The autofocus is fantastic!

I gave it a try, and I couldn’t be happier. The lens is fantastic: lightweight and small, and it’s perfect for outdoor shootings and estate photography. On my first weekend with this lens, I went to the Highlands and managed to capture stunning images. It was worth it. It is a GM lens in a G body and price. It has all the features you’d find in the expensive brother, plus the wider aperture and lighter weight. The chromatic aberration is slight to none, and the vignetting isn’t vital and is efficiently corrected in post. The sharpness at 1.8 is excellent. I have added some photos in this review to show what this lens is capable of.

I have only prime lenses (by personal choice), and this one has been kept in my A7III for a long time. I am happy with my purchase and would highly.

It does what it says on the tin. The 20mm focal length takes a bit of getting used to – many foregrounds! The crisp and accurate images and the super short focal length make handheld night shots possible. Great lens.

A fantastic clear lens is very versatile; the only thing that lets it down is the price, but as they say, you get what you pay.do yourself a favor, save and get one; you won’t regret it.
