Reviews of Nikon A900 Coolpix Compact

It is a pocketable jacket camera with excellent image quality for both still and video photography.

I bought this mainly to reduce luggage weight when traveling outside the UK but still wanting to have an excellent zoom range and picture quality. It certainly meets those requirements, and overall I am happy with the results so far. I have used it for outside and indoors, with and without the built-in flash, and I am pleased to say that the images are excellent for such a small camera.

One particular problem is when shooting in bright light, it can be difficult, sometimes impossible, to see the image on the built-in screen due to external light, and as it does not have a viewfinder that can be very awkward to get a good shot. I shall experiment with a foldable shield made from black card to see how much that will help. I shall update on that when time permits.

It can use for taking photographs of its construction with many options I would call ‘semi-manual control’ of the camera from the main dial and the additional thumbwheel that should satisfy most keen amateur photographers and possibly some professionals.

The quality of the photographs taken using this camera is of utmost consideration, and it does not disappoint.

Handy as a small camera with powerful features that I am still learning. It would perhaps be better with on-board GPS as SnapBridge drains both camera and phone batteries, even without transferring pictures.

Disappointed that the tillable screen is not as versatile as the 9900, it replaces as it cannot fold to protect the screen. SnapBridge works well and makes transfer easy.
