Samsung NX500 Digital Camera

Wireless 4k Smart Mirrorless Digital Camera Review

The release of the Samsung NX500 Digital Camera is Samsung’s statement that it too can create a quality mid range compact camera to run with the best Canon and Nikon have to offer. The NX500 keeps a majority of the features of the flagship Samsung NX1, but packs them into a more compact form factor at a more affordable price. Most notably, the NX500 keeps the NX1’s exceptional 28MP BSI CMOS sensor and hybrid autofocus system.

However, the Samsung NX500 Digital Camera doesn’t bring over every feature from the NX1 and dials back a few others. The image processor on the NX500, for example, isn’t quite as powerful, video recording lacks full-sensor readout, burst speed is slower and the NX500’s body isn’t weather sealed. Furthermore, the NX500 lacks an electronic viewfinder and built-in flash.

The NX500 does however make up for those features, or lack thereof, in other ways. As mentioned, the price compared to the NX1 certainly explains some decisions Samsung made with the NX500. The camera is designed for those who need a more compact and lightweight option compared to the larger NX1.

The NX500 captures videos in unbeatable 4K resolution, providing 4 times the resolution of Full HD and improved clarity. Thanks to the new HEVC (H.265) codec, the NX500 lets you record in higher quality, while using only half the memory space required by H.264 codec systems.

 Customer review

With a 28 mp sensor, the camera is packed with features too many to mention heredity can be described as a giant killer for all those who want a interchangeable lens system. The clarity of the pictures is very good and the video also, it comes with many auto settings like most cameras but it really begins to shine when you experiment with the manual functions. It also comes with focus peaking which is a great addition, the one thing it lacks is a mic input, on a camera of this quality that would be a very good addition. All in all, a great camera with lots of functions, the main one being it is 4k, however you need to have a powerful computer and editing software to be able to make use of 4k, but if you have a H265 compression enabled 4KTV you can hook it up directly via HDMI.
